As the North West Regional Women’s Committee (NWRWC) Secretary, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself & give you an idea of what we’ve been doing throughout the last few years.
The Committee meet 4 times per year & meetings are held at various venues across the Northwest (see the NoWW Newsletter Issue 2 for date & venue of the next meeting)
I am an Assistant Secretary & the Women’s Officer for Manchester Combined Branch on a 4 day a week basis.
I also hold the post of Regional Women’s Secretary & am on the CWU’s Women’s Advisory Committee (WAC) too.
I work for Openreach (a BT group company) in the Work Flow & Allocation team based at Ashton-Under-Lyne, Manchester & am also a Business Unit Trainer for Openreach.
I am into my 30th year with BT & have spent all of that time working on the engineering side.
There is a copy of our Campaign Plan for 2008 on the site & my Annual Report for 2007 so that you can see that the NWRWC have been active in many areas. We have really focused on supporting branches, reps & members, especially regarding CWU campaigns & providing more help & development with women’s issues.
There are also a few other things that you may find interesting on this website, including information on the forthcoming NW Women’s Forum on 1st November 2008.
This event is for you, the members, is free & is an opportunity for you to meet some of the CWU’s Officers & many other female members.
There will also be stands & stalls covering subjects such as Education, Equality & the CWU Humanitarian Aid Charity.
For more information regarding women’s issues in the NW, click on the link to our North West women’s website.
If you have any feedback, please let me know as we are always open to new ideas & improvement.
Regards
Karen Bosson
