More and more Labour Constituency Parties are carrying a motion that calls on their MP to sign Early Day Motion 428 and oppose the part privatisation of Royal Mail. Many CLPs unhappy with the stance the Labour Government has taken over the Hooper Report have pledged to work with the CWU in its campaign to halt this part privatisation and to campaign for a modern postal service that provides an improved service for all customers and decent terms and conditions and job security for postal workers. "This ...................................CLP fully supports the CWU campaign calling on government to abandon its plans for privatisation of Royal Mail.
The CLP notes the overwhelming support for EDM 428, and the growing public concern at attempts to privatise a much loved public post service. This CLP further agrees to support and work with the CWU in its campaign to halt this part privatisation and for a modern postal service that provides an improved service for all customers and decent terms and conditions and job security for postal workers The CLP agrees to invite a speaker from the CWU to address our next meeting on the campaign.
