Following the announcement earlier of Andy Burnham’s success as being chosen as the official Labour candidate for the Mayor of Greater Manchester, today it was announced that the candidate for Mayor of Merseyside is Steve Rotheram.

As readers of this website will know, the candidates supported by the CWU North West Regional Committee were Steve Rotheram and Tony Banks. In the event only one of the two preferred candidates was successful.

That said, the Regional Committee will be suporting both candidates for their respective mayoral positions in the North West region in the ballot next year, 2017.
